Hi,

I'm buying the following components.. I REALLY want to keep the noise down. 80% of my time on a pc is non-gaming. May even opt for an external Zalman Resterator to completely eliminate the VGA & CPU fan noise.. One thing I'll never be able to eliminate is the PSU fan.. Therefore my question is, what is considered a decent PSU that is QUIET? I was thinking of the ZALMAN ZM500-HP Continuous 500W... What do you guys think?

COSMOS 1000 RC-1000
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 OEM
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45
Dominator DDR2 1066 4gig
ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Caviar SE16 640GB

Seasonic's are the best from what I'm aware for noise. Corsair's (HX range) are also good for noise. Both the PSU's are exceptional for performance in regards to power.

Have a look at the Enermax Modu 82+ PSU's, from reviews they are quieter and more efficient than the Corsairs, SPCR recommend them highly. The 425w one would run your system nicely, or you could save a tenner and get a VX450.

I recently purchased this PSU for my server, and it runs quiet as a mouse, I think its rated at 18db. 425w, 495w peak. Its a Hiper so it has the mesh body which allows for better heat dispersion hence the lower RPM the fan has to spin to keep it cool.

Its available most places, not hard to find.

Edit: Just checked and they sell them here too.

what about the OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2 Power Supply

According to OcUK it's silent and considerably cheaper...

Is it worth my while trying to save 30quid here on a cheaper PSU ?

Probably an overkill but I had an Enermax Infiniti before it went to RMA and it was quiet to a point where I couln't hear it over the noise of Antec 900 fans that are set on low.
