As title folks, looking for something basic and cheap. Just to backup files, photos, documents etc. And with the ability to perhaps access this all from my tablets/phones at home and possible away from home via https.

I was looking at the DS11X series from Synology but I was just a bit concerned that it maybe dated tech?

Any advice appreciated folks.

Ideally looking to spend in the region of £150-£160 (1TB included if possible).

Thanks.

Cheers bud, would this have all the quick connect bells and whistles?
Would it be able to stream say an iPhone clip and presumably use the DS file search facility?

Also any idea what make of HDs can I put in it?

Mentions all of the Quick Connect, and as far as I know it has all the functionality of the bigger NAS units - only limitation is on the number of connections

Something like the 1TB Red (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-396-WD&groupid=1657&catid=1660&subcat=2611) should be fine.
