Looking for a reasonable upgrade...

My current setup is a dual-core XP5600+ on a Micro-ATX motherboard, with an X1950Pro graphics card. The graphics are fine, but I'm thinking of upgrading the CPU/mobo to something a bit more modern.

So, without breaking the bank, what constitutes a decent AMD/Intel mid-range upgrade these days?

Mid range probably E8400 or something, with something like a 4850, and 2gb of RAM to be basic.

Slightly above mid-range, but thats the kinda thing you would be aiming for maybe?

edit; saw you dont need gfx, so just buy a nicer motherboard
