looking for a run about.

So at the moment I am driving a Renault scenic and the wife has her works car, but at the end of August she has to return it because she will be starting a new job and wont be getting a car via work.

So we are looking for a second car, we have been looking at the likes of a ford focus, fiat stilo etc as we have a small budget of €2000 but haven't made any decisions in what as yet.

Any advice on cars that we should be looking at or should avoid?

I will be using the car mainly for driving to work which is around 10 minutes from where I live and the wife will be using the scenic.

Focus seems to be popular as a cheapish runabout.

Mondeo/Focus/Fiesta.

Avoid diesels. Buy on condition rather than arbitrary values like age or mileage.

In that case you'll struggle for many on this forum to know what you're likely to get for the money over there.

In many european countries their used cars hold value much better than ours, so you'll need to judge yourself whether the budget is reasonable.

That said, Focus/Mondeo etc sounds fine

Yeah that I understand was looking for some pointers to see what to avoid and look out for. Thanks for the replies so far.
