Looking for a shallow ATX case

Hi all,

I've had a bit of a move around furniture wise, and as a result my fractal design 2 (or maybe 3) sticks out a little and is in the way.

So, I'm looking about to see what options I have that are a little smaller front to back. Current depth is circa 52cmm, I would love to knock 10cm off this, but haven't found much that fits the bill (that isn't matx)

The needs are:

full atx (until the next upgrade)
3 ssd, one hdd,
room for a decent size gfx card (currently 780) happy to go with an external dvd drive too.

wants are no window and a little sound deadening.

the closest i have found is the source 340 which I may be able to get away with. Hoping for a few inspired suggestions guys, though in truth i may just have to make do until an xmas 16 ish upgrade time.

Maybe look at one of the cube cases? These tend to be a bit shallower due to design.

The Corsair Carbide Air 540 is full ATX and a great cube case, but rather expensive compared to the Source 340.

The Source 340 is the smallest ATX case you'll be able to find for a reasonable price, bar none. Trust me on this. It's a great case, but unfortunately you'll have to put up with it having a window. The system I have in it uses just the two included exhaust fans, and a Noctua NH-C14 with both fans at 900rpm. The thing is silent.

The most recent review for the black/black S340 on OCUK is mine, so I mention the other pros and cons there. I had the exact same problem as you (trying to find the ATX case with the least depth and height) and it fit my needs more or less perfectly. You won't find smaller, and it's honestly great in its own right.

I think Source 340 side panels are reversible, so you could buy a spare left hand side panel and have solid panels on both sides.

That said, I'm not sure where you'd get a spare side panel.

thanks for the advice gents,

I really like the layout of the 540 air, I wasnt aware that cube came in full size. unfortunately I'm not a fan of the look.

The source 340 has become on of two options as I chanced upon one of the new corsair cases (400q) with similar dimensions if someone has the same issue as me.

I prefer the no window, though it's a few more quid mind.

I've resolved to give the current case a month in situ, & i've spent the princely sum of £10 on right angle adaptors to get the current case a little closer to the wall. By also pulling the furniture away from the wall by an inch I'm hoping to fool my brain into not shelling out on a lovely fantastic shiny pretty new case.
