Looking for a sniper like simulator?

i Really enjoy being a sniper sitting there waiting for people then taking my shot and moving on. i wondered if there is any games out there that allow you to use sniper 99% of time. i really like sitting miles away from targets and taking them

im looking for somthing like
COD4 single player mission but where you can sit much futher away,
Crysis without getting totallty bombared with enemy fire.
L4D on chruch roof.

if you ever seen the film Shooter that as a game would be perfect!

is there any out there?
 
Sniper Elite. Played this, ace!

Though I did find myself running like a nutter with a machine gun through some parts.
 
Sniper elite definitely sounds like what you're after :) Put it on full realism and you have a lot of figuring out to do before each shot.
 
The first thing I thought when I saw the title of this was how soon national security teams would be checking out your background.
 
To be honest I really enjoy sniping in Battlefield2. It is far from realistic but is a lot of fun either way. You wont be sniping anyone from miles away in it, but 800 metres+ is doable but hard.
 
If you can stand the anchient graphics, Operation Flashpoint is the ultimate soldier sim. I know it isn't all sniping, but I still get goose bumps thinking about this one mission... Think it was on one of the expeansion packs or fan made mods.

Must have spent over an hour crawling into position, through woods and ditches in the dark and surrounded by patrols of infrantry and convoys along the road. Just to take one shot and escape into the night again, running like a loon and only just making it to the extraction point. Magic.

The game is murderously hard and frustrating though, and ArmA, the follow up is not nearly as good.

i just sniping on games i think its very fun.

a shooter film game would be the best tbh
 
FarCry 2 is insane fun, using sniper weapons, fire, explosives...

But that is if you can look past a few niggles, like a respawn of enemies (I could).
 
Joint ops was a brilliant game back in the day, we used to have a huge military clan that had fire teams. Snipers were awesome, had the SR-21, Barret, M40, M21, Dragonov to name a few :D
 
Buy BF2 & Spec forces & go **** off all the rushers & nade whores like me on a 64 man Infantry only server for starters.
Also go on Vehicle servers but go Sniper only & see if you can belly it from one side of the map to the other it is Awesome sniper fun. I use to do this loads & my fave map for it was Kubra damn. Start as Yanky & go to the Mec base via the cliffs picking of the odd Dude on the way. I've had Tanks & UAV's brush past me & the buzz is Intense. Played properly & if you are in the right mood sniping a vehicle server is as close as it gets.
Another sweet challenge on BF2 is getting in range of the enemy pilots & taking them out whilst they wait for a jet/chopper.
Expect to get kicked for this though as it'll be admin in the jets or waiting for choppers & they don't take kindly to being pawned even though they are easy killing 40 people per round in there poncy jets/choppers :p
There are loads of ways of playing BF2 & Thousands of hours playing time as well, No shortage of servers or players online 24/7 & all now for about a tenner :eek: Madness I tells Ye Madness :p
Anyways Buy it as it has yet to be beaten :cool:

I have not played BF2 for ages. I have heard of the project reality mod which sounds interesting. Is there a widescreen fix/patch for stock BF2 as there is no way I am going to play this in 4:3 ratio.
 
battlefield 2 is the best for some sniping. theres nothing better than finding a good spot to lay up and infantry. If theres a few good enemy snipers playing it is amazing trying to counter snipe them all round!
 
If they made an updated sniper elite, and tweaked it a fair bit, the game could be amazing.

But that's in a perfect world obviously :p

Tbh, if they made a full game out of the COD4 sniper missions I'd be damn happy.
