Looking for a song

The other day I heard a song in a shop. It was a female singer covering a famous 80's song from someone like Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Depeche Mode or something along those lines.

I'll say it was a recent song but recent here in France may be a few months behind the UK ...

Any ideas?
 
So you don't know the artist, the song title, any lyrics, the original artist?

On such specific information I'd say it was Paloma Faith's cover of Flock of Seagulls 'I ran (so far away)'.
 
I did know some lyrics & the song but it's slipped my mind. I thought it may be a newly released song and some radio listeners would recognise it.

The song is a really well known 80's tune. I'll keep searching ...
 
Have you thought about going into the shop and asking if they play their own music or from a radio station? If the former then they might be able to help out, if the latter then check the radio playlist - assuming French radio stations display a playlist.

No, but that Ellie Goulding song is very similar in style (plus it's a great song!)

I'm going to have to listen to an 80's compilation and get the name of the original song I think.
