Hi all.

I am upgrading my system dramatically over the next 3 months or so and have already lined up a new cpu cooler, case and gpu, but I am looking to get a sound card, but is it worth it???

I run a cheap "right tec" 5.1 system that only runs off one cable into the back of my motherboard, but I am looking to get a new 2.1 system for around £70 anyways.

What difference would I hear in the sound quality if I did get a sound card and which one should I get.

Thanks

A Xonar DG will offer much better quality than the onboard and only about £20.

A bought one of these for my second computer and am VERY impressed and noticed immediately a difference over the onboard audio.

Sound is more "punchy" and direction is more defined and general clarity is improved.

Currently using one of these in my main PC:

All depends on how much you want to spend.
