Hey all, long time browser first time poster.

So I've decided it's time to upgrade from my current m15x laptop. I have trouble understanding when parts wouldn't be compatible with each other so I don't want to go order a load of parts before getting advice :).

My budget would be around £500-£600, I don't really want to go above that bracket unless the upgrades are significant as I only really play wow/css which aren't very demanding. However, if they are worth it I can stretch slightly especially if it's future proof. I won't be needing a monitor, mouse or keyboard. No offense to AMD but strictly intel, preferably i5. And I'm a sucker for an aesthetic case, currently looking at

But other options welcome! Thankyou!

So i put together a few bits from what you guys suggested but would this be a viable build? Are there any significant changes that would make a difference? Is everything compatible? I have a OS, case, rewriter, mouse, keyboard, moniter etc.

I'm not sure how to embed it like you did but here's what I'm looking at so far

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retai £189.95
VTX3D HD 7770 X-Edition V3 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £89.99
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £59.99
XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £54.98
**B Grade** Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (S (HD-257-SE) £45.00

Sub Total : £529.58 inc vat.

Is haswell not a little overrated right now? I mean if there aren't any delays it could be next month, or the month after. Pretty sure its only going to be just as good as the i5-34xx/35xx and then there will be limited supply's for the first few months which could inflate prices. And then you'll want to wait for reviews and comments on reliability, motherboard round ups? I'm upgrading from a 2.8ghz laptop :P .. splashing to a 7870 should theoretcally call it quits for another 4-5 years. During the meantime you'll then be thinking about broadwell. Any opinions?

Oh and thanks for the replys all :)! Shall look at graphics change
