ive been thai boxing for a few years on and off and i usualy get a can of red bull down me to give me an increase in alertness and stamina

ive been looking at BSN no-explode

does anyone use this and will it increase my stamina for boxing

can anyone reccomend anything else for increased energy and stamina ?

thanks

Not the answer you're looking for, but only regular, medium intensity cardio for fairly prolonged periods will help increase stamina and overall fitness levels. Making sure your diet is up to scratch with plenty of complex carbs will aid it, also.

thanks for you advice im sure u mean well, but this is obvious mate

ive been training for 6+ years now at many sports and levels

im just after a boost because when your sparring with a super fit 18-20 year old an old man of 29 like myself has a job keeping up and anything helps :p

but i need a boost atm so i can push myself that bit further during sessions of boxing/swimming just so i can cut some weight and get my fitness levels back up

i have suffered with obesity and im 5'9 14s 6pound atm but my best weight is 12s 7 as im a stocky mofo and i was this weight last summer and reasonably cut

i really have to push myself to cut weight and ive only just gone back boxing last 3 weeks after 8 months off

so an initial chemical boost will really help me cut into my excess timber

Providing you havent abused your body (ie. drugs, alcohol, cigs, partying)

ahhh...well........erm.........;)

i also have a damaged cartalidge in left knee and most of my joints ache due to 10 years of hard physical work as a carpenter/joiner

Beta Alanine is very highly rated and will definately help.
Citruline Malate is another that will help with stamina and endurance. Also gives a good pump.
Taurine one of my favourite supplements. Has so many uses and it's very cheap. Stops you getting cramp, keeps you hydrated so well it actually helps prevent hangovers! ;) (it's also why they put it in Red Bull, to combat the dehydrating effects of the caffeine) It's NOT a stimulant, it just helps keep you going. Also 2g before bed helps you drift off to sleep and also helps with better quality sleep. It really is one of the daddy supplements.
Caffeine an obvious one but 200mg before a workout works very well. Use sparingly.
Glucuronolactone one of the main ingredients in Red Bull. Great little booster, 100g of this would last you a couple of years! I bought some 12 months ago and it doesn't seem to have gone down. 300mg per serv is plenty.
Guarana a caffeine based stimulant. Lasts longer in the system. If I take this after 6pm I can't sleep, gives me a dry mouth aswell. Potent stuff if you're sensitive to it, I find 500mg plenty, yet I've seen people take 2g! I'd be in hospital if I took that much lol :)

As for ephedrine I wouldn't recommend it but it is very potent stuff. Needs to be taken with caffeine for fat burning effects, it's useless taken on it's own but will still work as a stim. It's illegal to sell as a sports supplement but can be found in it's pure form with a bit of skill on google. Sold in chemists as a bronchilator but it's mixed with other nasty stuff like Guaifenesin, avoid it.

Hope that helps :)

total legend mate....your like the wiki of supliments for me :) :D

Sorry i didnt mean to come of an idiot by that statement, i meant in terms of ive never really thought higly of supliments thats why i dont take them.

If you do a lot of fitness and have a well balanced diet that should see people threw.

Oh man, made a bit of a muck up the way i have said things. :(:(

I drink Tea sometimes.

how old are you mate ?

Im 17.

Sorry for going completely off topic. Just intrested in why some people take them. :)

17 mate ok

come back and see me when your 29 and you've done 12 years hard graft on building sites, eating fryups and drinking beer etc

before anyone says "well if you looked after yourself you might be in better condition", i accept that, but here i am and suppliments are what i need to kick start my cardio/weight loss

No, supplements are not what you need to "kickstart" your cardio/weightloss, if you really think that, you're going to be very disappointed.

ok mate

so 6 years gym/swimming/thai boxing experience using suppliments and not using suppliments have told me **** all then ?

fact: i wont be "dissapointed" as from my own experience i know they work

why do most professional athletes/boxers/swimmers use them then ?
