Hi guys,

I was thinking of RTS games this morning and wondered whether a RTS existed where you control mages, archers and soldiers but controlled like you would in command and conquer or Stronghold etc?

Anything like this around, or in the works?

Thanks.

Warhammer: Dark Omen was similar to that I think, it was released back in 1998 though.

Yup - was a cracking game and I actually still have an original copy on disc. Not even sure if it can be installed on a modern OS to be honest.

There is also Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, and Warhammer: Battle March. They may be easier to source as they were released in 2008.

Warhammer seems like it might be what I am after, I see a little of comparison to the Total War style, which is what I'm after, huge battles with a variety of different troops & styles. Magic/Mythical is something I've not tried in a RTS game and looks like I'd enjoy it!

TA: Kindgoms is another choice, basically a fantasy version of TA (never really took off the same as TA tho) and is usually cheap on GoG.

Majesty 1 and 2? You choose what buildings to make and what units but you don't control the units themselves. Instead you can organise them in parties and put attack/protect flags on the map. They (sometimes) obey, eventually..

Quite a few to choose from, shame a lot are quite dated now!
Would be nice to see a modern fantasy RTS which some updated graphics, was speaking to some guys earlier about it, and that style seems to have lacked since 2005/2006!

Thanks for the suggestions thus far guys, trying to find a place to buy LotR, but can't find it anywhere but the bay. Will be checking spellforce for definite as well.

Edit; Stuck finding Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, guess theres nowhere to direct download from, can find it disc based!
