Hey all :),

Recently bought the recommended Edifier 1280dbs and T5 sub but absolutely hated the sound. I found the highs and mids were all muffled, speech was really hard to hear and didn't just sound right in my games. I spent a lot of time trying different settings, software EQs, cables and just didn't get on with them. I realise given all the praise they get I might have had a duff pair but I don't want to take the risk returning/rebuying them in-case they just weren't suited to me. They have now gone back :(

Please could someone recommend some other speakers? I would like to stick with just bookshelf size and now it's gone back realised while I loved the bass the sub gave, it actually took too much space for my area so dont want a sub. Currently have Behringer MS16s but they are crackling/cutting out and nearly kaput!

I do have a Topping E30 ii DAC on hand and up-to £250/300 which I am guessing keeps me in the active speaker range still as I'd need a further amp to go passive with the E30. I do understand my budget is trivial in the world of audio!

Will be used mostly for gaming, you-tube videos and Drum and Bass! (all music types really lol).

As always, thanks in advance for any advice

Why do they have to be active, are you concerned about amp size?

You might be better off going for bookshelves and a LEPY mini amp, they're very small form factor and offer a surprising amount of power.

Otherwise, the M-Audio BX range might be worth looking into, I've heard good things about the PreSonus Eris also but don't know much about them.

hello :) I wouldn't mind going for an amp at all, I just thought it would be outside of my budget. Having a look now at your suggestions. thanks!
