Looking for advice on new computer set-up

Hello,

I am looking to completely replace my old PC with a new system.

I will be using the system for gaming only and I am looking to be able to play current games and games in the near future at max settings with high FPS.

My budget is around £600 - £1200 and I am not overly keen on building myself since I have poor technical knowledge and an uncanny ability to ruin delicate parts :confused:

I have looked at length myself and have a rough idea of what I would like but I am unsure of a couple of things.

1. Although I want a great machine I do not want to get something I don't actually require for my needs.
2. Do I need an extra SSD and graphics card for my requirements?
3. I have a used GeForce GTX 550 TI lying around - worth salvaging or better to move on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
 
buidling isnt that hard to do as long as you take your time and read the mannuels :)
bit of wide budget...
do you need os, monitor, keyboard, mouse?
 
I will need an OS but I won't need a keyboard, monitor or mouse.

In regards to having a wide budget I would be happy to keep the cost down but having said that I am willing to put the money in for something that will last me. Could probably revise it to £700-£1000 if that helps.

Well what SSD do you currently have?

The GTX 550ti is a decent mid-range card but I would sell it and get something high end such as the 7950 if you want high FPS at 1080P :)
 
for that budget i would defiantly upgrde your GFX card. will well and truly future proof it.

Also i built my first PC when i was 16, 6 years ago now ;/

never really seen the inside of a pc before. just ordered parts, did some research. used some common sense. and if you still get stuck post on here with pictures and questions!

we will guide you all the way! its amazing fun to do and will be a great skill to know you can do it in future.
 
I knew you people would try to persuade me to build one! I will have to have a read and a think about it.

To answer an earlier question I currently have a traditional old HDD: a 320GB Samsung SATA-16MB HD320KJ.
 
I had a rethink and am prepared to put it together however I am not so keen on attempting an overclock. I also decided that I would need a new monitor.

Quickly put this together

I wouldn't get that bundle. processor has boost option which takes it to 3.9 GHZ anyway when needed. and using the below you get a better mboard.

then i future you can look to overclock if needed (but wont be, i run an i7 3770 on stock 3.4 GHZ (not meant to be able to overclock but i can get it to 4.2 GHZ but i put it back to default of 3.4 as i dont need anymore than that))

monitor is a choice of yours, you can get below and just pay money upfront. i have the monitor below and it is exceptional. but if you want to get other samsung and claim 40 quid back be my guest.

ive kept that SSD as its a good one

PSU is good, someone might be able to throw a better one out their for the price. i alwasy tend to skip threw PSU and just find first decent one

If you don't think you'll need a 680, go back down to 670 both cards will demolish anything out from now and the foreseeable future. can stick with zalaman case also if you prefer it.
