I'm currently still using a Dell 2408 WFP, which I've been using for about 8 years. It's a great monitor and still works fine, but I've decided it's time for an upgrade.
I play a lot of games so I want one with a refresh rate higher than my current 60Hz monitor, I also do a bit of photo processing so I'm thinking I might be better served with an IPS display, rather than a TN.

The two monitors that I saw which seemed to be good options were the ASUS PG279Q and the ASUS MG279Q

Both seem to have the same specs, the main difference is one being G-sync, the other Freesync.
My current system is AMD (as per signature below), so the Freesync one would make more sense, however I don't know if I will stay with AMD for the next build. I don't have any plans to upgrade just yet, but I expect I will before I ever get close to buying another monitor (I don't feel I'm being unreasonable in expecting a monitor of this calibre to last 10 years).

Are there any foreseeable problems with my current build if I decide to get the G-sync monitor?
I'm assuming that without any Freesync or G-sync, the only possible problem would be screen tear (something which I've actually never experienced with my current monitor, even though I never enable V-sync), and that would only occur if I exceed 144 fps?

I should mention that I also have a slight preference for the G-sync one, as I think it looks much better than the Freesync one. That said, it's hard to justify spending ~£200 more based purely on looks.

The other option that I spotted, was the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG258Q, which OC don't actually list. 240Hz refresh rate, but it's a TN panel

Also, I'll be keeping the Dell to use as a second monitor (won't be running any games on the second screen), are there likely to be any problems running monitors with different refresh rates?

Thanks for reading.
