Hi,

Hope someone can offer some advice, my current build is about 4 years old now so after an upgrade.

I need a mobo, cpu, ram and gfx card and as im really out of touch with hardware just wondering on any recomendations.

I have a 500w antec earthwatts psu so possibly need this upgrading also?

is a gaming setup possible for a £450 budget...? ( i can go higher if psu needed but prefer to stay around this).

Thanks

If your PSU is 4 years old, then yeah you'll very likely need a new one too.

Total : £554.93 (inc VAT and Shipping)

It's a little over budget, can shave £20 or so off dropping the Pro mobo for the standard P8P67, and a little more going for non-modular PSU. But that's what I'd recommend anyway.

thanks Howling, will check that out in a sec

sorry forgot to add my current:

Case - antec sonata 3, asus p5kc mobo (sata drives), 4 gb ddr2, intel quad 2.4 (q6600? i think) and a nvidia 8800gt gfx card

i'd swap the mobo on howlings spec for the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3.

how olds the psu ?

have you tried overclocking your quad (might be useful to confirm if it is q6600 etc, use cpu-z if your not sure) ?

Howlings spec looks pretty good.

You current PSU should be fine, it has a 408 W +12v output.
The i5-2500k and HD 6870 are pretty efficient even with the i5-2500k on a reasonable overclock, just don't go too far.

I run a i7-2600k and HD 5870 which both use more power, on a seasonic s12-600 which is is rated 432 W +12v.
