Hey folks

Been battling with a card i currently have ( ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5). Having constant driver problems and crashes etc, and think its about time I got rid. Budget wise just after Xmas so not massive but hoping to get a bit of an upgrade for not too much of a splurge on cash.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, have had a look on overclockers but always end up second guessing myself so thought best to ask :)

Current specs are

Corsair TX650 V2 PSU
Gigabyte Z87X-SLI intel z87
Intel i5-4670k 3.4 GHz (Haswell)
Vulcan 8gb DDR3
Samsung 120 GB SSD

Corsair Carbide 300R mid tower

Cheers guys

How much exactly are you willing to spend? Do you want to buy new or used?

If you want to stay with AMD the 280x should be a nice upgrade. Ideally, you should be looking at either the 290 or the 970 (I'd suggest the latter) but these might be too expensive. You can also wait it out till AMD unveils its new GPU lineup, shouldn't be that far off. The 380x is expected to launch in Q1 this year.

I would be looking to buy new tbh

Ideally i am looking to keep it under £200, which would be in the realm of the 280x?

In an ideal world i would wait a few months until my budget was in a better place and the new cards were released but having some major problems right now so would like to if possible grab something half decent that will do the job for now.

Perhaps hold out and see what the new NV 960 series are like. Reputed to be in the 200 quid bracket.

If you really can't wait any longer or stretch to a 970, then the 280x is probably your best bet. However, as setter said, you might want to wait till the 960 releases around the end of this month. It might just turn out to be the card you're looking for if nvidia doesn't **** anything up.
