Looking for another 24" Monitor

At the moment I'm using a Dell 2407 A04 which I love :) It's main use is for my 360, hardly use my PC anymore as I tend to have my laptop sat on my desk as well.

What I was looking to do was to get another 24" monitor to either hook up to my PC or to use on my 360. That frees up the laptop for the wife then.

So, do I get a new monitor to use my 360 or do I get another for the PC and keep the Dell for the 360? I have no issues at all with my Dell and the quality of it on the 360, but are there better monitors out there for the 360? I know a lot of the newer monitors have HDMI inputs, would this give me any benefit over the VGA cable I'm currently using?

Another option would be to get a cheaper 24" for my PC, this would be used purely for web browsing, some of the LG and Samsung screens look nice or I could try and get hold of another 2407 A04.

If I do go for my a new monitor for my 360, would I be better off getting something with a 1920 x 1080 res?

Any recommendations or opinions?

Wouldn't a 24" monitor with that kind of resolution be a complete waste on a 360? Most games don't run at resolutions that high, and even games that claim to be HD actually use the equivalent of upscaling and are running at lower resolutions internally. You'd probably get better value for money out of a 720p resolution TV, say a 27" one, especially now that prices have come down to make room for the 1080p ones.

That dell monitor you have is fantastic - and somewhat wasted on a 360.

As CBJ has said - you would be best off getting a decent TV for the 360 - and with it connected up via HDMI it should look pretty good. Then you use the Dell on you PC and your wife can saunter off with your laptop :)

However, being a PC gaming geek - I would instead sell the Xbox 360, not buy any new monitors and instead spend the money on a few key upgrades to your PC to make it a gaming monster (i'm betting most of your favourite games, except halo 3/ODST, are already out on the PC). What are your curret pc specs?

I've done the PC gaming thing, don't have the time or the patience for it any more but that's another issue :)

I don't want a TV either, already have one in my room, just want another 24" monitor to go along side the one I have.

I'm going to try and find another 2407 A04, if I have trouble with this, what other Dell 24" screens should I look out for?

I've read nothing but bad things about the U2410, so I will stay away from that one.

Is there a revision of the 2408 that is regarded as the best one to go for?

I'll get back to you on the U2410, I know a few things about it, but one of my friends has one and knows them back-to-front, so i'll consult with him first.

As for the 2408WFP, I had the A00 and the A01 revisions, and they were both fantastic. I believe the A01 has lower input lag, but I found both excellent for gaming (was mainly playing BF2 and Crysis). The most recent revision is A02, but I don't think they have changed much from A01, so either are good to get.

Many thanks for the help :)
