Whats better out of a OcUK GeForce 8500 GT and a OcUK GeForce 7600 GT im pretty much new to this kinda thing the numbers obviously make the 8500 better but the 7600 costs more so im conused to which one lol

any thoughts on the better one and a PSU to run it?

7600gt is better than the 8500gt

7600gt should be compared to the 8600gt, which is only marhinally ahead.

The 76gt doesn't support dx10 though, where as the 85gt will

hmm its out of a 76/8600GT then... they both have good reviews...
what kind of PSU do you rekon I would need for any one of them?
I just want something so I can get away from onboard (boring) not brake the bank (along with PSU) and run a few good games.

and that means?....lol sorry im very new.
I have a 250w at the moment but that carnt be enough can it?

Back in 2001, the AMD website had a PSU guide for their CPU's, the Thunderbird 1200 DDR was to use a 300watt Min and 330watt Rec, so today I would say 250watt is far too low for most of todays PC's nevermind ones with a dedicated Graphics card (Yes I know the old CPU's were higher volts etc, but PC was also more basic, esp GPU's).

Someone will tell you it will be ok if its branded etc and they run one, all Im saying is its not recommended and a PSU can break every other part of your RIG when it goes down.

yeah i thought it was extremely low tbh shoppin baskets at 92 quid with a 8600GT and 500watt Antec seem ok?

I used to like Antec but on older ones the 5v rail died lots and the ones they used in their cases were bad esp the CAP's (likes of the Sonata 1 and 2), the new ones are by Seasonic so should be good but heard they are bit loud.

How much you want to spend on the PSU ?.

tbh I havent really thought about a budget for the PSU I just wanted/needed one that was good and can run the new graphics card (8600GT) when it arrives and is installed.

whats the rest of your system spec? i rekon the 8600gt may run fine with the 250w psu you currently have if its a good quality psu and has the majority of its 250w available on the 12v rails.

and thats if your other components are low power parts, not quad core with 8 drives etc.

best budget psu to get would be the corsair 450w one. iv used 2 of those 450w psu's this month alone to build 2 new machines for clients and the psus are holding up extremley well.
