Looking for cheap or free web hosting, who??

As the site looks like it is from the 90s do you require FrontPage extensions?

The first thing you have to know when designing a site is your viewers! The people who view this site are like me well over 65, bad eyesite and need to be able to see the words clearly and 28000 views in just 6 months I think means the site is working!! Thanks everyone for you help.

Your site is completely illegible not clear, your idea that because the website has a few hits means the design is working is a total fallacy because no one knows what's on the website until they have clicked the link and viewed it. I think the fact you only have 29 forum members after 6 months is a clear indication of how poor the website is!

I think this says it all.

<SCRIPT language=JavaScript>
<!-- Hide it
// Returns today's date in a string with full day and month names

DayName = new Array(7)
DayName[0] = "Sunday "
DayName[1] = "Monday "
DayName[2] = "Tuesday "
DayName[3] = "Wednesday "
DayName[4] = "Thursday "
DayName[5] = "Friday "
DayName[6] = "Saturday "

MonthName = new Array(12)
MonthName[0] = "January "
MonthName[1] = "February "
MonthName[2] = "March "
MonthName[3] = "April "
MonthName[4] = "May "
MonthName[5] = "June "
MonthName[6] = "July "
MonthName[7] = "August "
MonthName[8] = "September "
MonthName[9] = "October "
MonthName[10] = "November "
MonthName[11] = "December "

function getDateStr(){
var Today = new Date()
var WeekDay = Today.getDay()
var Month = Today.getMonth()
var Day = Today.getDate()
var Year = Today.getYear()

if(Year <= 99)
Year += 1900

return DayName[WeekDay] + MonthName[Month] + Day + ", " + Year
}
-->
</SCRIPT>
What the hell is this!? It's an abomination.

First the number of forum members reflects the age of the users, older people don't use the forums like the young! Can I we see your site??

I use Vidahost too. Their customer service is fantastic.

Avoid 123-reg like the plague. If you ever have to move domains or hosting around or want to go to another host you'll regret ever signing up with them. I haven't done anything web or IT related for years now, but I still get some of my old clients emailing me to see if I know how to sort out their hosting problems with 123-reg. Shocking, basically.

I use a mix of tsohost (load balanced windows & linux) and ezpzhosting.

I used to host with vidahost, but to be honest had nothing but problems with them - the web service was fine, they had huge problems with billing!!

I am a member of a number of forums with a large number of people in the 60+ age group, I wouldn't assume that the older population don't use forums.

My personal site is on the uni servers and inaccessible off campus. Though I don't see what my website has to do with yours? No matter how bad my website was it wouldn't change the fact that yours is terrible would it?

Why is it such a problem for you? If it works for him and what he wants it for then so what? So what if there's some unnecessary code locked up in the html? For christ sake don't look at my site. Don't make such a big deal about it.

It's a forum Jonny, the purpose of which is to provide discussion, if someone posts their website in an attempt to increase traffic then it's fair enough to criticise the design which is helpful in this situation considering that the op actually believes the website is a good design when in fact it's harming the usability and thus business and would benefit from some pointers. It may also save the op from future embarrassment. Don't make such a big deal about it.

Enough said.

Paypal subscriptions are (were) a pain unfortunately - Paypal like to cancel them at random it seems. Tsohost and my company, and many others, run the same software which has long since fixed the various problems with subscriptions especially situations where the sub is cancelled :)
