Need/Want to get a new games rig and this is what thinking of, looking for some feedback.

Asus Maximus III Formula

Core i5 750

Corsair H50, matched with Akasa Apache Fans Push/Pull system.

Corsair Dominator GT-1600 4Gb (I know is expensive but will fit in with colour scheme on motherboard and graphics card very nicely with the red/black look.)

Gainward 9800GT 1Gb (reusing whilst wait for Asus 5850 stock to settle down, and/or new Nvidia Equivalent DX11 to launch)

Asus ROG OC Station (don't have a Windows Laptop to use ROG Connect)

Dell 3008WFP (existing)

Crucial 64Gb SSD for OS

WD 150Gb VRaptor (already own) for AV/Swap File etc

Crucial 256Gb SSD for Games (overtime has come through to pay for this)

Samsung 1Tb F3 for CD/DVD Images

Plextor 755SA DVD Drive (reusing existing)

Corsair HX750W PSU

Lian Li 343B (existing)

The only games I find myself playing these days are the RTS games such as the Total War Series/Ages of Empire/Command & Conquer, so I don't believe that would really use the 5870, and am wondering if even at 2560x1600 do I need more then the 5770 for these sorts of games. I just want a single card, so not interested in xfire 5770's, if 1 would not do the job.

Also playing these sorts of games and not the FPS, is it REALLY worth splashing out on that 256Gb SSD or would a fast normal hard drive be enough. I don't even load benchmark programs so not really interested in getting my 3dmark or whatever score up through the use of SSD. If I decide to go back to FPS then will buy a PS3, as that what my mates play FPS games on.

Am I going way over what I need?

Can't really make up my mine for the soundcard so would like some suggestions as to a Soundcard to match up with my Razer Barrucuda HP-1 Headset. Can't decide between Asus D2X Xonar and the Creative Xifi Platinum or should I just stick with the onboard from the Motherboard, and see how goes.

Thanks
