Anyone know of any flight sims that are cheap to pick up, or free.
If paid for, being able to use 1 disc for multiple installs if possible.

Just want a game which I can play over LAN, since BF2 sucks in terms of flying Planes.
I'm not really worried about the age of the game, its just got to be pretty fun, and combatable with XP and Joystick use.

Wanna try out my new Joystick! (thanks Mike)

Thanks, Floyd :)

isn't it mouse only though?
It seems so..... just spend ages downloading the trial version to find I can't use the joystick.
Couldn't get the joystick working on IL2 Sturmovik either.

Found a game called Fighter Ace that detects the joystick too, but it isn't a huge amount of fun. Any games with a similar atmostphere to part of the 3dMark2003 fighter vs bomber scene?

What are the MS Flight Similators like to play? or are they pretty limited to flying passenger jets and stuff.....

MS Flight Sim is great for just flying. If you want some (nearly) modern combat, either LO:MAC or, erm, another one, would do you.

LOMAC (Lock on Modern Air Combat) or Falcon 4

those are the 2 modern flightsims that people still play

IL2 or Combat Flightsim3 would be the ww2 era games people still play

all of the above should work with ** joystick and are all awesome

as for free game i dunno

Try Freespace 2, or Starlancer
both a bit old, but are very good games... star lancer, in many ways is the Prequal to Freelancer :)

Lock On is good, a steep learning curve i thought though...

Microsoft Flightsim is always recommended.

only other game i can think of would be X3, not sure if this is keyboard/mouse or if it offers joystick support though (its one game i've always been meaning to buy, but never have :o)

Lock On was baffling, need about 4 hands to play it. :p
will have to look when I am feeling in the right mood.

Have been playing a bit of Fighter Ace which I found on Download.com, seems pretty good so far. Great choice in planes too fly.

Freespace 2 I already had, just completely forgot about it at the time of the OP. Damn training missions are boring :p

Still really love taking a jet on BF2 and blasting around full speed at low ground height, can anyone suggest any other games with this insane sense of speed?

Have been looking at X3 too, looks like it will be time consuming, perhps one to save until after my exams in the summer :)
