Hi guys. I currently have a very bad i7 4790k chip that can barely do 4.5ghz. Anyone knows where i could find tested chips that can do 4.8-5ghz with aio watercooling?

Why would you spend pre bin money on very old tech.
4.5ghz is very good, be happy with that you have or build a new system.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that I should focus on building a new system which I plan to do but probably not this year as I want to wait for the next bugfree architecture and for lower ram prices. I'd like to squeeze out a bit more power out of my current system as for the work I am doing currently some extra power could be a big help. I don't think it would be too expensive if some power user decided to sell his old and tested 4790k... did it in the past where I purchased the X3380 chip that had the world record in overclocking and it really offered a lot for quite a cheap price. 4.5 I don't think is that great considering it's just 100mhz over the base speed. I'd say it pretty much sucks :)

So does anyone have a 4790k that is a tried and tested good overclocker and can do 4.8-5ghz with 1.3ish volts?

You need access to the MM to be able to buy and sell. Only 994 more posts to go!

I agree with P4 on this one, it's not worth it.

You could try delidding it and / or using better cooling to get more out of it.

i think mine is pretty decent , delided and ruining 4.6 at 1.197v , i'm sure it can do more

edit: i would look for 5775c as fast as 7700k and faster in some games due the mounts of l4 128 mb cache , not sure why this cpu was overlooked so badly , and bad/wrong reviews .

Really? You think it's faster than the 4790?

oh u have 4790k already if you not happy with clock sell it go 8700k tbh no real point looking for one with higher clocks

I would say the difference between a 4790 at 4.5 and 4.8ghz would be absolutely marginal at best and probably not worth the effort of finding another one and removing and selling your chip

I do, but I'm not selling it.
Honestly dude 300Mhz is going to be such a TINY boost in performance that you won't even notice it. You really won't. Just be happy with your 4.5Ghz.
Haswell is old. Why spend money on a 4790K when you already have one just for 300Mhz? That's nuts. Keep what you have, and when something comes out that you want to upgrade to, do it.

Don't tell the buyer that the chip is a crap clocker when you sell your current i7 :P
