Which are running off a BFG 1000W PSU

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

My problem is over the months ive been having a lot of issues not when it is running / restarting, but when it cold boots.

There are various things such as the Mobo lights up fine and so does PSU but sometimes the PSU goes into a rabid clicking sound and then othertimes the mobo will take various minutes to suddenly boot saying about a currupt bios which it used to autorepair.

To get it to work i usualy had to switch on then hold the reset button aswell then release by doing this several times. Once booted it was perfect.

I have swapped the PSU with another Antec 500w but have exact same issues which now have magnified as it will not boot at all.

The cpu fan doesnt spin either nor any post screen so very worried. Everything is in warranty but the DAM Psu - RIP BFG.
My other fear is if i sent wrong part or bulk and overclockers charge me due to no faults :(

Thanks for help :)

Well check all connections first, take them out and blow on them, clear away any bits of dust, then try again...you have probably tried this....?

If this is so then have you tested the cpu cooler on another pc? just plug it in any pc for 5 secs the fan should start, if it does then your problem is your mobo.

psu timing errors might be a problem but the mobo is new and the psu's would still power the fans even if this was the problem. Ram would stop it booting but again it wouldn't stop the fans from being powered......

The only thing I can see that would cause all your problems is the mobo... seems to be a bios problem...have you gone to the Gigabyte website and updated the bios? Thats got to be your first step!

Let us know.

yes yes yes yes and yes. Ive just swapped to yet another psu and instantly same issue. Mobo lights but nothing activated but it causes the PSU to go into a rabid clicking as if trying to rapid start. Im guessing it is indeed the mobo but should i also send the Ram and CPU in with RMA request to be on safe side?

Well new development. Tried a 3rd PSU and it did exact thing again but this time proceeded to blow my right ear drum with a incredible bang. Can the motherboard if faulty even cause this aswell? it is just insane as i now officaly have no more spare parts i can swap...

Sadly this was a huge upgrade for me so cant as this kit was designed for DDR3 and 6x Core 64bit Athlon. Nobody i know can even use these parts sadly :(

In the end its up to you, but I would guess it's an error in your motherboard's bios that is causing timing problems with the psu....only a guess mind you. My concern however is, if a PSU has blown it 'may' and I stress the word may, may have sent a surge through your system damaging the other components....namely the cpu....have you tried stating it up with the hdd not attached...shouldnt make a diff but you need to get into the bios and see whats happening...

But if im honest it sounds like a lost cause, but im no expert on motherboards....
