Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

I'm looking for some help with a on and off issue i've been having recently with my gaming rig.
Firstly my spec's

6600k with 4.5ghtz overclock
Asus ROG maximus viii gene mobo using the built in OC tool for overclock
16gb 8gbx2 2666mhtz Corsair vengeance lpx ram using XMP in bios
Gigabyte gtx1070 G1
Corsair force 120gb SSD
WD blue 1TB
EVGA supernova 650 G2 power supply
Corsair h100i CPU cooler

I built this PC about a year ago and worked perfectly for a good 6/7 months but i've been experiencing random lockups during youtube videos leaving my computer frozen but my mouse still moves but cannot access CTL ALT DELETE etc. forcing me to hard reboot my PC basically. it seems to hang forever not resulting in a crash or BSOD.
This issue has persisted for a couple of months i put it down to possibly my SSD.

As of last month i've experienced several BSOD's during gaming, firstly when playing Heros of the storm Beta, the game crashed then after restarting the game my computer BSOD with Memory_management as the code.
I did some Googling on the code and it points to Ram/Harddrive.

So first things first i ran the windows registry checker, no problems. windows memory checked, no problems found.

I also read it may be caused by a new install and possible conflict somewhere. so i uninstalled everything related to HOTS because it seemed the problem started right after i downloaded the beta for HOTS, atleast the BSOD's. Then reinstalled the game and the problem didn't seem to happen again. I played hours of Diablo and abit of GTA since then and haven't had a BSOD, till tonight when playing Diablo the same BSOD and memory_management.

If anyone has any experience with these issues and could help narrow down my problem it would be greatly appreciated. i can provide any logs etc required.
My gut tells me to replace the SSD and Ram with a fresh windows install and that should solve the issue but my worry is the issue persists and then i'm stuck for ideas.

Thanks guys and gals!

I was getting the same memeory_management errors on windows 10.

I did a number of checks like run memtest to check my ram was not faulty and on the end what I tried was a spare 450w psu which since I have done seems to have fixed my issues.

Do you have a spare pau to try? I had. 750w in the pc and swapped it out for. 430w for testing

Good Morning, Thanks for the reply's. Ive ran Memcheck84 over night, 4 full pass's and no errors.

The PSU suggestions surprises me i thought 650 would be fine for my system. i only recently put the EVGA supply in. i had a corsair power CX600 till a couple of months ago and never experienced a BSOD during its life span, i could use this powersupply for testing if required. i honestly expected my Ram to throw up error's now i'm stuck

Hey guys and gals! If anyone has any other suggestions. Is a more powerfully power supply defiantly needed? Id really just like to know for sure it isn't anything to do with my CPU/GPU or Mobo. I have a new set of ram coming in on Saturday and i'm going to fresh install windows on a new HyperX savage SSD tomorrow. I've also returned my bios to default wiping my OC for now to see if the system stays stable during gaming. The PSU in my system is practically brand new EVGA G2 650W i thought this would be suitable for my modest system. should i aim for a 750/800W??

Thanks again for all your help!

Do you have any overclocks in place on the cpu\memory?

I kept getting memory_management BSOD and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, memtest came back fine, cleared cmos and ran everything at stock with just xmp enabled. I tried windows 7 and windows 10 but still got the errors, tried card in different PCIE slot as well and even moved games to a different SSD, changed sata cables and ports even tried marvel controller but still got the same errors.

last thing I did was the PSU, this was coming up to 9 years old and as I had a spare one I thought I would give it ago as i was running out of things to try and now 3 weeks on I have had no issues.

it had never been cleaned out in either so guess it was down to dust build up and I will put it in at some point but my I7 950, 6GB of ram, asus x58 mobo and my nitro 390 seems to be fine on the 430w PSU still in there. I think my issue was more down to the PSU being old and covered in dust but I was surprised that this has stopped my issues.

do you have anyone near you or a friend you could borrow a PSU off for testing?

Hello, I've cleared the OC and i believe removed XMP from the memory, just restored to default asus settings. I haven't had time to test any games to check if the BSOD happens again. The thing is my PSU is brand new, i upgraded literally because of the quality and warranty the EVGA G2 line provides. I also checked before buying that 650w would be more than ample power for my system. i have my 600w corsair PSU which was in my system before that i could test with.

i do have the PSU set on eco mode, possibly something to do with that?

Doubtful.

Carry on with everything at stock for now, to see if CPU or RAM OC was just unstable.

650W is plenty. Even 450W would do, as long as it has its full wattage in 12v output. Doesn't mean the PSU may not have an issue but always better to run things at stock first for a few weeks and see.

Ok Danny will do, i just played a quick rift on Diablo with no BSOD but there was defiantly two noticeable second long freezes :/ I'm going to install the new SSD with a fresh windows 10 tomorrow and see how that goes i guess.
