Soon ill be moving from amd to intel depending on which of these 2 specs would be better.

I5 2500k with http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-056-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1990

OR

I7 3820 and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-058-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2174

Both are within the similar price range theres barely any difference.

Currently gfx cards are sli 570 which would run easily on both of these, but wondering which would be the best choice.

well the i7 3820 has hyperthreading the i5 2500k does not so thats a pretty big difference

the 2500k tho is a beast of a overclocker

also the x79 motherboard has '3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 Slots' which may be useful if you ever upgrade your gfx cards

what are you going to be using your computer for? Judging by the 570 SLI setup I am guessing it is at least part gaming. If gaming is the primary use for your PC then you really won't notice a difference between either processor. A number of games still don't use the full 4 cores... let alone hyperthreading! On the other hand if you are encoding HD video or something then the answer would be the 3820 every time.
