Hi everyone *waves*. Currently I'm running a laptop as my main display and I have an old LG Flatron W2363D that's only capable of 1920x1080 @ 60Hz as my second monitor. I'm trying to upgrade my office environment to make it a bit more up-to-date 
. I'm in the market for a new monitor which will become the main display and the laptop screen will be the 2nd. About 15 years ago I used to know quite a lot about the whole gaming PC scene, now technology has come on leaps and bounds and it seems like I know nothing 
. Anyway onto what I'm after... I just want a good monitor and it's hard to search for something like that as everything seems to go on about "the best monitor" which normally costs a zillion pounds 
.
- I'm looking for something between 23" and 27". I could go bigger but I don't think it will be in my budget and might be a bit overkill for what I need.
- If the price tag can start with something like £2xx that would be ideal. Obviously if it starts with a £1xx then I'm all ears.
- Main use will be watching YouTube videos and video editing plus the odd bit of gaming but nothing too serious. With the video editing I don't edit anything too serious so I'm not in the market for some posh video editing screen just yet.
I have no idea on the pros and cons of panel types so I have no idea what's good and what's bad. All I know is that I went onto the Overclockers site and got met with a wall of monitors for sale which all looked the same to me. Like I said above, this monitor will be hooked up to my laptop which has a HDMI port on it and a Mini Display Port. I've been told the Mini Display Port is the way forwards? In case it's of any use, here are my laptops specs:

I've no idea if that Alienware monitor is any good, I just know from my youth that Alienware were the ultimate bits of kit to have (before they got bought by Dell). So I thought I'd throw that one into the mix for you all to vet. Thank you for reading this thread and any help that you can give.
