Hey guys/people,

the title states all, so I am basically looking for lactose-free sour cream / soured cream (I supposed they both mean the same thing?).

I am trying my best to find lactose-free sour cream / soured cream, but I am finding it very hard, because things aren't labelled as boldly as they should be...

Any help?!?! Any help here would be much appreciated.

However...

I think I've found something that is a lactose-free/dairy free alternative to sour cream / soured cream, which is made by the company called "Alpro" and here it is (in a screenshot form as well as links) from ASDA/TESCO as well as Alpro's official website.

if you have never had soya alternatives it might be interesting as I cant stand the stuff, I find it has a very odd aftertaste.

my daughter had a dairy allergy which she has now outgrown but most alternatives we used were from Tesco but Sainsbury's have a good range too. Just have a look in the free from chilled section and see what's on offer... to be fair the options have grown a lot over the past 3 years and I'm sure there is now a few options.

Last resort would be Holland and barrett but I find they are very expensive and imo not great quality.

I have never seen lactose-free sour cream outside of the US or Australia, so I'm pretty sure your only options are to make your own (a bit of a faff, and sometimes involves cashew nuts, of all things) or use yoghurt, as suggested by that Alpro diagram.

What are you using it for? Is it consistency, flavour or both things that you are wanting?

Cheers guys,

I'll try making my own with certain ingredients, however I think the Alpro Simply Plain Plant-based Yogurt is a ready made alternative to sour cream/soured cream. I've done a little research on it... :) :D
