Looking for new android box

Hi all.

I think i need to upgrade my box as its on android 4.4.2 i think and thats with custom firmware and i dont think freaktab has any newer firmwares for my box. Exodus is being troublesome and the fix is to use kodi 17 now cos of most links using https ssl stuff. Also i use youtube a lot and youtube app on mine is very annoying as i get playback errors on a lot of videos i click on so maybe a updated box can fix those issues as i never get em on my moto g phones utube app.

Anyone recommend me one?

must have 2gb ram, 16gb storage. latest android 6 for kodi to install. has optical out. has usb slots. decent wifi perofrmance and can use 2.4/5g dual wifi from my superhub 2 as hoping to use 5g on it.

I looked on amazon and theres too many brands to look at. i googled and found a box that might be good but its a bit pricy which was the q box 4k 2017 edition for 49 quid on amazon.

Anyone know if thats a good box. If anyone knows of one a bit cheaper thats a known brand hopefully for 40ish quid id think id rather get one at that price. As last one i bought was 30 quid.

At that sort of price i would not go no where near all you will get is a cheaply made Chinese box that will not last and not give you any updates out the box if it was me id go for the Minix neo u1 here is youtube link to the review

Avoid anything with Amlogic S912 it's a travesty of an SoC, also steer well clear of Rockchip SoCs as well as most devs have given up completely with them. Stick to the S905/S905x.

The new Minix Neo u9 is on the 912 soc but there is not much of a difference to the U1 Which is on the 905 soc. The only difference is the U9 can do Dolby Pass through and is on Android 6.0. But your paying £40 more for it so id stick with the U1. There is compare Review

I have the u9 yeah a fair jump in price but it is a great box if sound is important to you worth every penny.

What's everyones views on the mi box? I came across it on Googles on website. Looks good, but then I know naff all about Android boxes.

I ordered one the other day based on the reviews I'd read and for the price (was on sale) I thought it was worth a gamble based on the specs. Has no ethernet port so if you want to hard wire it you need to use the only usb port it has with a usb to ethernet adapter.
