Err, i could have the discs and pads changed on my Porsche 911 or Mercedes S-Class for less than that
Belive all you want, but my last service, £500 of it was for discs/pads at the front only.
Anyway, anyone got any idea performance wise on the 07/08 Focii?

Fixed price at any UK Honda dealer for your car - £245 for new front brake pads and discs fitted. £95 for a set of rear pads fitted.
What mpg do you get out of your Civic?
Out of curiosity, if performance isnt an issue, go for the 1.6 diesel Focus, it is still around 110BHP so not totally dead, but youll get over 60mpg out of it, i have heard of people getting less than 50mpg from the Civic. Over 20k miles that could amount to about £400.
Tax would be cheaper (lower Co2) Insurance would be cheaper (lower insurance group)
I reckon you could save up to a grand over 20k miles.
I do agree that the parts costs you quote are absolutely ridiculous and I would at the very least phone around a few different Honda garages for quotes. The internet is a wonderful place too, you can usually get OEM parts very very cheap. (I bought the Brake pads for my old Phaeton off the internet, same manufacturer as VW and i got them cheaper than it cost the dealer to buy them)

Well if you managed to pay £500 for a £3-350 job from a main dealer then no car you buy is going to be cheap. Honda have the happiness scheme, as seen here, and if you pay more than those prices anywhere then tbh you fail at car ownership. That's the MAIN DEALER prices. They will be cheaper at an indy but if you insist on going to a main dealer then that is the absolute most you will pay. If you've paid more then you've been ripped off and changing a car because of this is a bad idea.

Having done some research (albeit after i had the work done), the dealer charged me going rate for the parts - €145.72 + vat for each disc and €99.16 + vat for the pads.
I phoned other dealers and they all quoted the same price.
How is it then that in the UK main dealers are charging £40 including VAT for each disc when it's over £100 more PER DISC in Belgium?
He only charged me €42 for labour though

8N0615301A, the OEM disc for my car is €150 + vat at VAG dealers in Belgium, whereas you can get them on ebay and even main dealers in the UK for < £50.
Unless their not selling genuine parts.
I wonder how much the dealer pays for the part. My guess is less than €150
