Hello.
My current card is an ati 4890, and that was about the last time i looked at graphics cards, now its on the verge of death im looking to upgrade but im lost.
Ive been told i should maybe switch to nvidia as they have better support from games/less problems with games, but the last time i looked at nvidia the geforce 4 was the best card on the market

My budget is £140 MAX but id rather keep it around £115 if i can, unless it is a major increase in performance/ i wont have to upgrade for some time.

The other thing is should i wait a few weeks? Is anything coming out that will drop the prices down a bracket?

Thanks guys.

I'd hang on to the 4890 until battlefield 3 then look as are there any games you are playing at the moment that require more ?

So is there no bonus to nvidia over ati?
Heard something about different features and such?
Also how do the numbers for nvidia work now? I know that ati is 1st number is generation, then basicly how far through its cycle it is and the last one (forget about the 0) is how good the chip is. So a 4890 is about the same as a 5650, or something to that effect =]

Thanks for the card link magnum, i'll note it down.

A 4890 shouldn't be struggling with dead rising 2 i can max it with a 5770

hang on for a good price on a 6870

Ok.
So i managed to get a few quid so which of these two would you recommend?
Im pushing the extra £15 on the geforce because i know im going to be buying batman when it comes out, so this is saving me £15 anyway, but is it better or worse then the ati?

Thanks.

Edit: also i realise that at a later date i could crossfire an eti if i got desperate for more juice, but is there something similar with nvidia?

a Lot of people seem to have had issues with the ocuk 6870. I have had no issues with the 6870 I have. you get great quality gaming out of a 6870. nvidia do SLI which is the same as crossfire. however Nvidia cards have physx which takes further load off the CPU in games.
