Hey guys, just a quickie!

Basically I have a few stock fans on my system that I wan't to change and im curious as to what I should be looking for when it comes to fans.

I have heard for example that the Scythe Gentle Typhoon fans are one of the best available but ive not actually heard why. What stats should I be looking at when getting new fans?

For example im thinking of getting a few of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-010-AE&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

How can I tell if they are any good or not? Should I be looking at the fan speed, the air flow or both? And what do they actually mean?

Cheers in advance :)

Air flow and noise shoud be your top priority unless you just want fancy led fans. More fan speed equals more noise oh and budget is always a major factor

Agreed you get what you pay for, thats why you should never pay nearly 20 pound for these, when they are 11 elsewhere. Look online at other large places. These are priced ridiculously.

Always a trade off and generally speaking higer RPM = more airflow = better cooling = more noise but as Gaming Girl says you get what you pay for.

+1 for the Gentle Typhoons or Akasa Apache/Venoms.

Agreed. Very expensive here.

I do like what I hear about the typhoons and I have previously been very tempted to get them. I am however bit of a poser :P

Unfortunately that means dull, grey fans won't really do it for me. The fans I have linked on my original post don't come too far behind the typhoons which I think is awesome considering I can get my eye candy and cool temps at the same time!

Also ive had to previously buy fans from elsewhere than here as again they seem to be quite highly priced here. The fans im currently using are around £8 more expensive here than where I originally bought them (amazon believe it or not).

I'd pick some bitfenix spectre's or spectre pro's as they seem so be pretty good in terms of looks and airflow, Just a thought as the Aerocool don't really have many reviews. TastyPC on you tube reviewed them and they beat the ugly notcua's I think?, The air penetrators as well were damned good,

Food for thought :)
