Any ideas? Looking for a dedicated box that I can install my own servers onto (much like the Jolt setup).

The new owners of JOLT don't like game servers..

Customer Announcement:

As most of you are probally aware Jolt Online Gaming Ltd is now a subsidiary of OMAC Industries.

OMAC has, as its main focus, a growing network of Persistent Browser Games and Jolt will be aligning its operations with that focus.

As a result, we will no longer be offering Clan or Game servers for new orders or renewals after the end of January 2009.

Please be assured that those of you with existing contracts will be able to run your servers until their expiration date and renewals are still possible until the end of January, but only for a maximum period of one month.

We thank you for your custom over the last few years, and hope to see you on the forums and our new Persistent Browser Games.

There's plenty of places that host dedi's for not huge amounts of cash. Idaq isn't too bad on that front.

Colo is by far the best deal though. Initial outlay of ~£300 and you'll get a nice dual core 2.8 ghz system, 4 GB ram, 250GB hdd, 100Mbit port and more bandwidth than you know what to do with. It's what I did for the OcUK Left4Dead servers (and other stuff).

Colocated where? :)

Depends where you live I guess. I went for a datacentre in Manchester due to living about 5 minutes drive away :) (www.idaq.com)

We pay about £40/month for the server and it runs several L4D servers, web hosting for various sites and other random game/applications servers as we see fit.

edit: If you're serious about going this route, mail me in trust and I'll give you some more direct info.

If you're also local perhaps we could negotiate a deal for reduced monthly costs for the two servers ;)
