hey, i recently built a new i7 pc and am now looking at buying a new gaming drade keyboard and mouse to go with it.

I currently have a Saitek eclipse 2 and a logitech MX1000 have had these for 2 years and im starting to want more that they cannot deliver. After looking for a long time it seems razer would be my best bet as they have useful drivers well designed product in am aware of steel series but i dont like the look of their stuff (havent really looked into it though it could be better corrent me if im wrong.)

So really my questions are, of the razer mice which is best overall in every category and from experiance if possible ? (I know statistically the lachesis because of its dpi)

Which is the best keyboard, lycosa/mirrored or turantula ?

are there any other comparable products that are good and well known?

Im really only looking to spend a little over 100 on mouse and kayboard combined in reguard to sugesstions. thanks for your time and contributions

I just got a G11, and it's fantastic so far, no need for all that screen rubbish. Can't comment on the razer keyboards from experience, but I hear they lack the features you'd expect at their respective price points.

As for the mouse, i've been using a razer deathadder for a while now and absolutely cannot fault it, it really is a fantastic mouse. I don't think it's worth buying a more expensive razer until they bring out a better, newer model, since the current ones have teething issues, or so I hear.

i was thinking about the death adder also.

the keyboard dosent seem to lack anything i dont really want a lcd screen like the logitech im mainly bothered about the respnose times and macro inclusion

I have a deathadder and I find they are the most comfortable razer mouse for right handers. Not a fan of the razer keyboards tbh. The keys felt too 'soft' and I was messing up commands while gaming. Just went back to a standard microsoft one. Have not tried any of the logitechs.

G11 is a sound choice then for the money. Look at the Saitek Eclipse II or III too, that might be to your liking. I'd say they were the most popular boards for the hardcore gamers on here.

Razer Mirror or Saitek Eclipse 3 :) would be my choices. I played with a G11 in a computer shop and tbh it felt and looked quite tacky. I use an Apple Slim keyboard (for typing purpose) which is think is much better for touch-typing :)

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse III
Razor mouse: Deathadder

Consider a Roccat Kone...amazing mouse, brand spanking new (as is the keyboard).

i have a saitek 2 which is ok but dosent really seem to offer anything voer the standard keyboard except lights ill look at *** 3 but im not sure. as for the mouse it hink illt ake the death adder i play palm anyway so its going to be well fitted to me. ill probably go for the regular lycosa if not the saitek and i dont like the mirror's keys. ill look into tat mouse but i cant find many detailed reviews and i think they both cost more dont they? thanks for all the replies

you do pay a premium for new gear. The Kone is sitting at £40 so a bit pricey.
The Eclipse III has programmable keys and touch pad keys that keep the settings after reboot iirc...read a review...will tell you a lot more :D

as i said im happy to pay around 100 so should all be ok on the money side of things ill look for reviews i guess its just the whole razer hype thats got me looking at their products over all the others.

cant seem to find a good review for the saitek 3 and it looks like id use the driver support on the razer quite a bit so for the money i think the razer may be better im not sure on the death adder or Kone yet looking for reviews now im leaning toward death adder though

edit: after reading a very detailed Kone review ive decided to go with it as my mouse of choice it looks amazing for functionality and i cant find a bad word about it anywhere. still not sold on the board ill take a look tomorrow

I have just purchased the Roccat Kone Mouse.....its fantastic, you will struggle to find anything better IMO....it is well worth the extra ££

I also just bought the Razer Lycosa Mirrored kb. It looks great and has great features....but I am having to RMA it due to the touchpad not working. I am happy with it though, well will be once I get a replacement :p

Just a shot out of the blue, I have now the MX5000 set, but when you mentioned good keyboards, it bought me to thinking what was the best keyboard I ever had and it was a Cherry, perfect keypress, wish I still had it, gave it away to go to wireless solution.
My thought was wonder if they still make keyboards and they are as good as they used to be.

Just did a google search for cherry keyboards and found there website http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/keyboards/Desktop/index.htm

oh yes they do make them still !

ive seen the scroll wheel breaks but thats the only fault, im pretty lucky with my tech so im guessing ill be fine with it. keyboard i think i will go lycosa looking at the 1 ms response time instead of the standard 11 on any other full height keyboard but im sure the differences are minimal. thanks for the help

i have just one last question. with the lycosa for those who may know is it better to get mirrored or regular theres dosent seem to eb any comparisons anywhere and im not sure which i would prefer im thinking regular though as mirrored is more and there dosent seem to be anything special about them
