Hi guys. I'm currently researching the best mouse to use for my playstyle and gripstyle.
I enjoy being good at gaming and over the years of playing quake 3, unreal tournament and many other games i've realized one thing is true. You're only as good as the tools you use.
I understand how many people feel that a mouse is a mouse and it doesn't really matter. But in the past, once I have taken full advantage of the settings in a game, configuring sensitivities and buying new hardware it has transformed my performance in these games and really given me an edge.
I currently play Team Fortress 2 and my greatest asset is my aim. I was addicted to Quake3 Instagib for many years and acquired a really good skill for precise aiming. So naturally Sniper in TF2 is my thing.
I currently use a Logitech G9, i've had it for 3-5 years now. It is a good mouse and even though the mousewheel stopped working a year ago, it still tracks really well.
The problem I have with this mouse is that i've discovered my natural play style prefers higher sensitivity and using small precise movements with the mouse to make constant minute re-adjustments of the crosshair to hit my target. This means using a claw/fingertip grip. The G9 comes with 2 changeable grips but neither allow me to hold the mouse properly between my thumb and ring finger. I find that taking the grips off completely and using the really small mouse with no cover gives me much more control. However it gives me a lot of pain in my hands.
A week ago I ordered a Razer Nostromo . I usually get all excited about new and flashy gizmo's which are supposed to make me feel like god and improve every aspect of my game. But I've been burnt before and was very sceptical about using this device. I had a lot of pains in my hands from using my dell keyword to game with and I felt that because keyboards were never created to be used as gaming controls it is time I try to find something that is.
Well i've been using the Razer Nostromo for a couple of days now and I have to say, i'm blown away. It was extremely awkward at first, I didn't know what was the best position for me to place the keypad in, I wasn't sure where I should hold my fingers. But after some time configuring the keypad, i've realized that even after 6+ hours of gaming my hand feels completely comfortable. This alone makes it worth the money. But in terms of gaming performance, once I got used to the buttons and worked out how to use the pad to access all my controls it actually gives you more buttons to press than a normal keyword.
What I mean is, my left hand can press more keys without looking or without moving my palm than I could without. The jump key still feels a little awkward, but i've gotten used to it and I have to say, I will never go back to a keyboard again. I know this already. Keyboards are just not built for gaming.
So with the new comfortable feel of my left hand from using the Razer Nostromo, I now want to buy a new mouse which can give me the comfortable feeling I want and the precision extra precision.
Do you guys know of any mice which fit in with my requirements?
1) Razer Lachesis. According to Razer, this is the best mouse they offer for the claw grip style. It has 5600 DPI(not that super high DPI matters so much). This is currently the number 1 mouse on my list.
2) CM Storm Spawn. The problem I see with this mouse is that apparently there are only 3 DPI settings you can access. 800, 1800 and 3500.
I've been researching DPI and one thing is true. DPI needs to be in blocks of 400 to be accurate. Otherwise the mouse/computer will start using software to approximate that DPI setting. So setting the mouse to 3500 isn't giving an accurate reading on your movements. I need a mouse that I can select nearly any DPI setting up to the mouse limits and it has to be in blocks of 400.
I really would appreciate suggestions if you know of a mouse which fits my requirements perfectly.

- I need a mouse that is built for a right handed, claw/fingertip grip.
- It must have a DPI settings which can be changed in blocks of 400(DPI has to do this otherwise software is used to approximate which is bad) all the way up to 3200(my current DPI usage).
- It must be small and lightweight.
- It must have at least 2 buttons on the side of the mouse.
- It must be very comfortable.
