I was looking for some photoshop help. I am trying to make a logo from the shape below, the idea being that the ring spanner represents the letter "q". So I'm looking to have a 45 degree curve half way down the shape ending in the spanner which will be the tip of the "q".

Ideally I would like to do this using the pen tool so that I have a nice high quality (non jagged edge) shape. The end goal is to try and get some sort of metal chrome effect on it to represent a tool.

So can anyone point me in the direction of how to do this?

Cheers

I'm pretty useless with the pen tool so was wondering if anyone else could have a bash at it

Looks good diggsy though I was looking for a curve in the spanner so it looks like the letter q

Have emailed you back, thanks :)

Dez, sorry I'm probably being an idiot, but I don't quite get how the curve makes it look like a Q! Do you mean you want a circle round the whole thing, with the spanner being the straight, 45 deg line at the bottom right of a capital Q, or something else? Can you bosch something up in paint?

Opps yes I did sorry ;)

I'll fore something togethr in paint to let you guys understand, its to make up a logo for a website idea. Its no gonna look exatcly like a q just give the idea so just a bend in the middle of the spanner is all I'm looking for :)

an easy way to do it yourself is to open the image in Illustrator and use the live trace feature. Then you an pull the spanner about as you see fit. IMO photoshop is kak for doing stuff like this.

That effort is close but as Jester says if you could bend it the other way and magnify the ring at the top that would be cool :)

Ok I have been speaking to my Dad (who this logo is for) and he has given me a sketchy mock up of what he is looking for. The text is just there for illustration :)
