Hi im looking for a new power supply for the upcoming conroe cpu. Everything will be top end products and I will either go for 2 GB ddr2 ram and 2 x 1900 xtx setup or a single x1900 xtx and a PhsyX accelerator card.

I will be overclocking but im unsure of which power supply to get.

My criteria....

I want it to be top end and high wattage (ie 600W+)
I want it to be quiet (ie not 38db like some ive read)
Preferably cost needs to be no more than £130
Not modular. (cant fit in case)

Any help is appreciated as this next power supply needs to last me a while.

Thanks

DO NOT buy a Physics card! Performance is slower with the card than without!

What case do you have?

I got the Coolermaster stacker 830.

Unfortunately I want the fan in the top as I got a 120mm blue LED fan, 1800rpm with 14bd. Which is good. The modular power supplies are right up against the casing for the fan and the mass of cables will limit the air flow.

:) Hehe, erm Seasonic 600w S-12 if you can stretch to £105...

Erm, I have it at the moment birlliant, broght it as its future proof kinda, and quiet!

Yes that was one on my short list. I have the hiper 580w type r blue...but need to change as its modular.

What's the distance from the PSU/case backplate and the top case fan? I've just measured my Enermax Liberty between PSU back and front of the PSU (where the modular cables are) plus a 1cm extra to allow reduce cable bend, it's 18cm.

The room from the end of the psu leads to the case fan housing is actually -1cm. The cable plugs over hang the fan area by almost 1cm.

And on the hiper power supply they are rigid metal plugs so u cant bend or shape them around the casing.

:(

Sorry I dont have photo.

I just thought with a clump of cables rather than modular it would be easier to thread around the back of the fan housing so airflow is not restricted.

Another vote for the Seasonic or the FSP epsilon 700w...

as for your 14db fan you're having a laugh ;) an 1800rpm 120mm fan will make at least 25db, I'm guessing it is a thermaltake as their specs are generally wrong.

It is a thermal take. I cant hear it over the hiper PSU which is 19db.

I do agree with you that there specs are often wrong...but not this time. Also the Amber fans are whisper quiet at a very reasonable rpm (think it is 1400 but not sure)
