Looking for screen capture software (video)

I thought this might be best in here. I'm looking for some screen capture software ala Fraps that can capture the whole desktop and not need you to be running a 3D game/app to work. Does anyone know of any? The free-er the better!

Camtasia Studio is very good. You can download a free trial, although you do have to pay for it.

I bet you can get free ones, but i dont think they will be any good tbh.

So, have a look at Camtasia Studio, its the best.

Does this belong in another forum?

The version I had didn't work on XP but they might have released a later version. It's not free though, in fact the RRP is a bit pricey but you can usually get Lotus software cheap (£10 for Smartsuite, anyone?
