i'm in the process of backing up my avi's, and converting them to dvd format.

Winavi is ace when it works. simple and fast. but it has problems with some avi files, and as soon as it starts converting it crashes with an MS error report.

winavi's website says grab some extra codes if it crashes. i'm currently using klite mega codec pack so i'm not really sure why i need some more expecially as these are xvids.

basically i have been using Nero vision express to convert the troublesome files, buuutt ittttss ssoooo ssloow to convert.

any recommendtions for alternative software? :)

cheers guys :)

i'm actually thinking the latest version of klite is b0rked, at least on my system. i wnet back to a version i'd been using for the past 6 months or so, and things seem to be running better.

you are backing them up by making them significantly larger? Amazing...

anyway, klite is trash thats probably why, get ffdshow or CCCP.

same here

Hi there this is true :) ,its not free ,but i use a program called Covertxtodvd its very good ,will put menus on abd a background you choose,it converts avi to dvd ,i have used it ,and they play on my dvd player no trouble

i gave convert x to dvd a try and it works great for the ones that winavi doesnt convert. it's just slower than winavi. actually i seem to remember it making the screen size smaller for some reason. i though that if you was to burn a dvd it would convert to one size, but it cxtodvd seesm to be making smaller films, despite me always setting all apps i use to make PAL video.

seems ok on my dvd player ,you might have to remember to set your widescreen t.v to widescreen ,on your handset ,just a thought ... :)

the way i noticed was just playing the dvd on my pc. the films converted with winavi open in a abigger window than those converted with the other app :/ . i dont think it's related to the size of the original media, but i'll check it out further.
