Ok, so I've had some cash burning a hole in my pocket for a while now (been waiting for the ASUS 27" 3D Monitor to be released)
So I've been thinking about alternatives to upgrade my rig.
Im considering grabbing 3 120hz monitors and a 2nd 580 GTX and running them in Nvidia 3d Surround.
Seriously considering 3 Asus VG236HE's as they seem to be the ones I've read the best user reviews on.
My questions are :-
Is Nvidia 3D/2D Surround worth the investment?
Would the VG236HE's be a good choice?
Should I hold on for the VG278H?
I'm unsure how much I will actually use 3D tbh as my last experence on a Sammy S27A950D and it game me a headache pretty quickly (I had to use some weird option due to not having an ATI card)
Of course I will try it (to see in Nvidia 3D Vision is an improvement) but my main interest is the 120HZ.
Also I've been looking for a reason to go SLI on this 580 for some time now, and the only ones I can come up with are:-
1: Buy a large 120HZ (SLI should help with the extra framerate and when/if I run 3D mode)
2: Buy 3 Monitors (SLI is then a requirement, plus i'm guessing i would need the extra gpu horsepower anyway to run the 3 screens 2D and 3D)
or 3: Buy a 27" IPS (Not sure if SLI would be required for the extra high resolution).
My PC use is pretty much 55% Gaming, 35% Movies and 10% Web Surfing.
I play FPS (but i'm generally pretty crap online lol) but hey I play for fun, it's generally more stuff like BFBC2 and BF3 (when it comes out). I'm not really a huge fan of twitch shooters (CoD etc.).
Quite partial to RPGs Oblivion, New Vegas,Diablo 3 & Skyrim (when they're released)
Bored to death with MMOs now, but i guess that doesnt mean i'll NEVER play another one.
Driving games Burnout, NFS, DIRT 3 etc (Hate F1 Games, i SUCK big time at those)
and Strategy games (When i can find decent ones without cheating AI lol)
So as you can see, quite a mixture.
Any advice you can give would be appreciated.
