Hi,

I'm hoping to get a new pc but I only have a rough idea of a few parts that I would like and wasn't sure if they were a good idea and if so what to add to make a full build so I am looking for some help and advice please.:D

To give you an idea of what I use my pc for - I mainly play games, surf the web and watch netflix etc so I would like to build for that, I don't stream etc, basically just play games myself or online with a few friends. I play all sorts of games but most demanding I would think are things like Red Dead Redemption 2, Battlefield, Destiny 2, Assassins Creed Odyssey, Borderlands 3, Division 2 etc. I play on a large 1080p 144hz monitor so I would be looking to try and get some sort of stable high frame rates. I don't plan on going higher than 1080p atmo but I might eventually. I don't upgrade my pc very often so would like to build something that will last me for a while. I don't plan on overclocking much, if at all, as I haven't been that successful in the past.

re Budget, prob 1000-1500 max, I was looking at https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...0k-4.8ghz-overclocked-gamng-pc-fs-19d-og.html mainly as it uses the cpu I was thinking about.

All I have thought about so far is
CPU - I5 10600K
RAM - 16GB
GFX - 5700XT

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.

Cheers :)

Hello.
I'm planning to build a pc for same reason as u.
Gaming and web and Netflix's.
Same budget. 1k to 1.5k.

I'm planning to use AMD.
3600 or 3700 will see on a price when I buy stuff.
Amd 5700 or nvidia 270 super I'm still debating on this.
And looking into 570 motherboard most likely
Gygabite aorus .

This is my base line so fare.
Hope that gives u some options.

That's expensive PC for only starting level 6 core/12 threads.
Already some 2018 games scale to 8 cores and more, like that Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Because of Intel's greed in pricing old models there wouldn't even be affordable CPU upgrade path.
And next-gen consoles coming in late fall/before Christmas bring 8 core/16 thread CPU into mainstream.
Both PS5 and XSX will literally dedicate 7 cores 100% exclusively for the game.
Hence all future's heavy games will be made to utilize high core counts and 8 cores/16 threads is starting level for better PC to last many years.

And pipsqueek quarter TB SSD in that price PC is between bad joke and insult.
Wintoys10 and two big games would fill it. (already Modern Warfare would do that)
Half TB SSD would be minimum even for cheaper PC to actually be able to fit some games into it.

No actual mention of PSU, so also that's likely cheapo.
(availabilities bad in many PSUs currently)

Also that Coolermaster marketing liquid cooler isn't worth its price.
There are better heatpipe coolers for whole lot less.
Like Scythe Mugen 5 and Alpenföhn Brocken 3 for half the price.

If not intending to upgrade CPU then 3700X.
(whose non-boosting variant will be in next-gen consoles)

X570 Aorus Elite would be pretty much overkill for it.
Though of course if you're planning to upgrade CPU to high core count high end model then it's good board.

Thanks @Benass, its good to know I am not alone in looking for this kinda thing and thanks for your suggestions.:)

My apologies :( to @EsaT, I realise that my description of what I was after was misleading and caused some obvious confusion and perhaps wasted your time. Sorry my friend:(. Thank you for your time and detailed reply. What I was trying to say re the spec was that I only have a rough idea of what I would like for the cpu and the gfx and the rest of the system is totally undecided. The link to the system was only to show a possible package I could go for and work with amending the individual components where appropriate, the link only shows the default components when you call the page up. Hopefully that makes a little more sense.

In saying that your advice on the cpu is very interesting and has given me some thought. Thank you. Are you suggesting that this is a bad time to go for cpu?
I agree with the hd again that was just the default option, I was thinking on a samsung 970 M.2 for my system drive and using my existing 1TB 860 Evo SSD for my games drive.
The PSU was undecided but I was thinking perhaps a good 850W one. I am using a XFX pro850W in my current system.
The cpu cooler again was the default I believe but I had no idea what to go for. I have a large noctua in my current system, afraid I cant remember the model name.

Low resolution moves bottleneck toward CPU and 8 core/16 thread is needed for future's heavy games which are heavily multithreaded.

Star Citizen even gives good workout for 12c/24t and without SMT's extra threads majority of cores would quite fully occupied:

Who knows maybe Crysis Remastered also does same for multithreaded what original still does to single core...

Samsung drives are all more or less brand overpriced with NVMes costing upward twice per GB than others and SATA drives same per GB as NVMe drives:

Good 750W is more than enough and 650W is pretty much sweet spot.
Power consumptions aren't going anywhere.
Well, except for Intel's cranked up to 12½ emergency editions under full all core load like video encoding/3D rendering.

High end heatpipe coolers are pretty much better than average waterpipe coolers and and dual towers beat most.
And there's nothing but cheap and easy to replace fan (whose failure doesn't kill all cooling) as wearing part in heatpipe coolers if you want reliability
