Looking for some help.

Try leaving the side off your case, and keeping the room cool for a little bit. Your card might just be geting too hot and throttling back on the performance to avoid melting itself :)

Yeah ive just done that, there was also a tvcard underneath part of the fan just by a few mm. really hope this works!

ive left the case open and removed the tvcard. Put lotro on and did a skirmish then left it on while i walked the dogs, so its been playing for about 50mins and no trouble yet.

just tried anno again and i thought id touch my card and it was very hot. Guessing it must be overheating, any tip? lol

just to say it must definitly be something to do with heat. having the side of the case off has prevented the problem. Thing is leaving the case off means it will fill up with dust and dirt so it can only be short term fix. How do i keep my graphics card more cool?

tried using MSI Afterburner to check the GPU fan speed and to enable a better configuration?

simply pressing User Profile on will atleast offer you a better Fan config than the default. that was the case with my 480.

what case you running in?

Also use MSI Afterburner to enable Temp monitoring in games along with FPS. this means you can watch to see if it is Overheating and will give you a definite answer, preferbly you don't want the card going over 90's. mine sits in the mid 80's without pushing the fan beyond 75% on big games.

What shipinabottle said :) Rearrange your cards so that there's a bit of space for the graphics card's fan to do its thing, make sure the back of the case isn't blocked so that air can get out, if the case is on carpet, raise it off it a few inches, and make sure your case isn't right next to a radiator.

right i rearranged a few things and removed a few things and it was working fine for couple days but yesterday i had lag on league of legends luckily it was at the end of a game.
Later i went on lotro to see all the new ftp changes and went to help some friends and i was getting movement lag, like people running on the same spot then jumping forward and everything glitching when im walking. I ran afterburner my temp was 70 and my gpu usage was between 67 and 80 which im not sure if thats high.
Other than that i had nothing running in the background and i was the only person using the internet. Anyway it made it pretty unplayable.

Ok i have given this a while and im afraid its not getting any better. I have been playing lotro lastnight and i was lagging quite a lot, my friend was skipping ahead of me all the time and my skills were taking a good 5 seconds to be used.
I got fraps on to check frames it was running between 100 and 250 fps, Latency was mostly balanced on 32 with 0.4% loss. I continued to play and for a short while it got better then all of a sudden it went really bad it was like walking in slow motion, my cursor was the same. My friends voice went very slow and choppy and my whole pc went very very slow.

Game became unplayable so ive just got off and everything started to speed up again.

Its just happened again today, was playing for a couple hours with no problems then out of the blue the same thing. i Checked all temperatures cpu barely reaching 50 gpu 62 and frames were bouncing between 100 and 150. This isnt a heating problem and its something i cannot find any information on. I was suggested by a friend my psu isnt sharing power correctly between cpu and gpu. Feels like im hitting a brick wall.

I reckon there's internet connection dodginess going on here. What kind of connection do you have - dsl on a standard phone line? Is your PC connected directly to the router or wirelessly?

Its connected directly to the router by cable, i ran a speed test was running 2.5meg and 60ping. I just went straight back on lotro after making this post and its running perfectly fine again.

i dont think it is the internet because my whole computer lagged lastnight, start menu, IE, everything was doing it.

I'm not sure if that would be a graphics problem. Running on the spot then suddenly catching up deffinately sounds like a network/latency issue to me. But this doesn't explain it going slowly in Windows.

Run a full AV/malware scan? You could have picked something up causing these issues?

Latency isnt the problem as ive got this thing in game which tells me and its running a healthy green while this is happening.

really not getting anywhere with this problem, was just playing the witcher and its happened again, got off the game waited an hour started playing again with no problems. What the #@*% is going on. ready to just throw the pc away lol

Right then, just playing batman and it started to stutter after a couple hours playing, i open afterburner and the gpu usage is 32, game lagged really bad for a few seconds so i checked and it was 8 on the gpu usage. Sounds like the gtx 460 is the thing giving up, any ideas what causes this or how to fix?
