looking for some media player software . . .

we are setting up a monitor on the wall of our shop and would like to play a random selection of .jpg files and video files.

What I would ideally like to do is load ALL the relevant media into one folder on the HDD and then the "software" randomly plays the content of the folder be it video or pictures on the screen in a contiuous loop.

Does such a thing exist?

I know VLC can play a folder of videos, not sure about the looping or pictures though...
