Hi,

As the title suggests I am thinking about upgrading my current system to some extent. I am just trying to get an idea of what I should be looking to upgrade and how much it is likely to cost (roughly speaking) if that is possible. When I buy stuff I am mainly looking to get the best bang for my buck as I cant afford the top end equipment so try to buy something that is good value for money and will last.

I mainly use my pc for gaming or watching videos etc. I have an eyefinity setup with 3x21inch monitors which I use if I can or if I am struggling go to one monitor.

I know my system is a couple of years old (or more) in places, so I am curious if it is worth upgrading part of it or waiting until I can upgrade the majority of it with some kind of bundle deal.

Anyway here is my current spec, any thoughts or advice etc would be greatly appreciated :) (Apologies I am not particularly tech savvy so i will just put down the info i have that may or may not be of any use, most of it i got from cpu-z).

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 (Deneb 125w) stock cooler
MB: Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3
RAM:G Skill Ripjaws 4 Gb (2x2Gb) F3-12800CL7-2680 (PC3-10700)
GFX: HIS ICEQ Turbo 6950 2048MB running at 840Mhz Core 1280 Mem Clock
Power: XFX 850W
Main HD: Seagate 500GB

Thanks a lot :)

P.S. The imminent release of BF4 is in my mind but is not the sole reason for looking at an upgrade.

P.P.S. Spotted today's daily deal for the HIS 7950 and thought that might be an idea, but not sure if that is a great leap up from my 6950?

I'd grab an SSD to start, makes everything run smother and faster.

I'd have a look at a second 6950 to tide you by until the next gen of cards and another 4gb of ram at the least as if i remember correctly its an 8gb recommended on the spec sheet.

How much do you have to spend?

Hi folks;), thanks for your advice and input.

Regarding money, probably atmo a couple of hundred pounds or so. So realistically looking at maybe 1 or 2 components just now or was wondering if its worth waiting to save up for a full overhaul, or as you have suggested for example perhaps look at getting some more ram or suchlike. The SSD is a very valid suggestion thank you:), but I am willing to leave it for now and have longer load times and improve smoothness/quality etc of gameplay. It is definetly something I would want to look into in the longer term though.

Ideally you should upgrade everything at once, in your case the CPU, MB, RAM and GPU.

The problem with getting a new GPU now is that your CPU will hold its' performance back. However, that 7950 on offer today is an excellent GPU, unbeatable for the money. Couple that with it being EOL and its price point replacement (R9-270s) not having as good performance then it is hard to resist.

Would it be a good idea to try and pick up the 7950 with the current offer with the idea that I could upgrade the rest in the next month or two, or would I be better off just waiting till I have the cash required to do it all at once and seeing what is available then?
