Hey guys, I'm looking to treat myself with a sound card that has a few requirements.

I have leveled it down to two cards which seem suitable and won't break my bank ballot. But if there is other products that meet my needs feel free to let me know :)

Anyway the two are

Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-E

or

Creative X-Fi Titanium 7.1 PCI-E

Both are in or around the same prices give or take a few quid, so whats the better deal for me? I have a few requirements.

Its has to better then an Audigy 2 ZS, (my old sound card which seemed to stop working one day and also why I've not gone for the Creative XFI PCi-E as many reviews are calling it a budget Audigy with emulated XFI features.

It must be PCI-E, as I own a MATX board and my GPU has covered its remaining PCI slot.

Must be able to record "what you hear" as well as sound from a microphone and be at least good or at least audible quality .

One that just works from the get go, As in I plug it in install the drivers no hassle. Though I do have a tech savvy mind, I much prefer things that just work as everyone else no doubt does and if one saves me more of a headache then the other its a big deal to me.

Overall I'd like decent sound quality or what you would expect for around this price range for a sound card, including games and movies, though I mainly use my PC to game I do also use my PC to listen to my music collection also. However I'm also not a competitive gamer so the EAX or what not doesn't interest me that much but I see it as an added bonus.

Never mind I checked out some reviews and just went for the Xonar. Hopefully I made the right choice it was gut feeling and decent reviews that grabbed me.
