Good afternoon,
Recently i have been getting a lot of dvds off mates e.t.c and have been ripping to dvds.. This however is a costly process.
I am looking for something which i can have plugged in my tv which will enable me to have all my movies e.t.c in one place and just simply sit back and control through a remote e.t.c what movie i want to watch, I am aware of HTPC's but tbh i feel i dont really need one for what i want to do and i dont really have the money avaliable having just bought a new tv,ps3 and phone...
So has anyone got any suggestions to what i could use to do this or is a HTPC my only option?
Budget Around £70
I have had a look around and it seems the WD TV Live HD is a good option, Does anyone have one??? also does my pc need to be on to be able to get the files? If so i think i will pass on the Live and just go for the WD TV HD.

There are various media players like the WDTV and WDTV Live which you can get but the majority are outside your budget (including the WDTV Live).

Whether your PC would need to be on or not would dependent on how you used the unit. You can either stream or access files on a share, in which case a source (e.g. your PC) would need to be on, or via locally attached USB disk, in which case your PC can be off. The original WD TV is basically the same except you lose networking (unless you install a third party hacked firmware ... otherwise you are limited to USB devices) and DTS down-mixing.

Note that whilst the WDTV and WDTV Live will play ripped DVDs they will not display menus just the content.

For discussions on the various players I'd suggest the streaming and media players section of avforums.

Ok thanks mate, Well the menus i never use anyway lol, Ok will have a look on there.
EDIT:I think i am just going to go for the Western Digital WD TV Mini,

Thanks vermaden for your reply. Can you guess how long it will take for Solid State Drives to get cheaper and common in computers?
