Hello fellow gamers ,

Looking for sub £999 spec, must be with 1070/1080 gtx. I've found on competitor site 1070 build for £760 but with only 6400 cpu which is little too short for me.

Also wouldn't mind b grade items unless someone explains what's bad about them?

Kind Regards,
Dom

Hello Rich,

Mainly gaming as I gave up on video editing. Mainly new gen games if any decent comes out, currently focusing on games like wow, csgo, overwatch and dying light games and waiting on bf1.

Currently I own laptop with i7 , 780m , 16gig ddr3 with 3 sets of 850 ssd pro. Razer naga mouse/beats studio/siberia v2 and 144hz monitor from acer so mainly focusing on rig.

Does 165hz monitors are a real thing btw?

Also if possible prefer those compact tiny boxlike cases rather than full towers, since new 10xx gpus are cooler than 9xx series?

Yeah 165hz monitors are real, will be almost all of your budget though.

OK its almost 5am so im sure someone can work on getting the same performance of this build for cheaper. Left out hard drives as it looks like you can save money there as you already have good SSDs. I would probably get other peoples recommendation on a different PSU too, only went modular as if you had a window in a case like the carbide it would look a bit nicer, pretty much the same reason for the CPU cooler, nicer than having a huge heatsink blocking out the window if you went with one.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £990.93
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Sweet.

Never buildt with water cooling, is it straight forward? I'm wondering also whether there is point to overclock to those high ghz on cpu since i never seen my cpus go over 40% load on any pc I had.

Is i7 worth nowadays a shot, anything good for it for multirasking or gaming wise with its hyper threading?

for the budget and wanting a 1070 or 1080 the 6600k will be great, my 6400 along with the 380x are not as good but more than good enough on things like Rust, 7 Days to Die, CS:GO on the highest settings, not really tested it on anything else.

Yeah its a closed loop cooler so no messing around, just as easy as installing a case fan and a heatsink.

Overclocking is up to you, atleast you have the option down the line with it being a K but to be honest you will have no issues at all running games like Overwatch on Epic with that build.

Is it even worth it 1080 over 1070 , value for performance wise?
Also what about Ram, 2400vs 3000/3200 , what benefit can we get with more powerful ram for games or nowadays its all on gpu?

What about branding? Theres b grade MSI armor oc 1070 or evga sc gaming acx which are much cheaper than original price but don't see why they go as high if non b grade escp
When their clock speeds are not as great. Evgas does seem to be decent oc but not armor msi or I miss something?

Is there point going for founders edition gtx 1080 if i can get it under 550?

Also jetstream or overclocked gpus are better than the founders editions when it comes to cooling card with air
