As above, currently i have a dark rock 4 pro cooling my cpu (ryzen 5 3600) the air cooler is working just fine and doing what it should however its a huge block in my case and was thinking of installing an aio to open things up, i was going to get a be quiet 280mm aio but i have heard that they use rather flimsy tubing. what can you suggest as a good reliable aio dont need any rgb if possible but would like good quiet fans.
thanks

Makes sense, less clutter, more space for air flow. Heat is not focused over CPU and motherboard power circuit area and easier to install components and connect fan headers etc.

AIO got a lot of benefits.

if your case can take it then go with Arctic freezer 2 - 420?

Otherwise kraken z73?

As above less clutter more space, the dark rock 4 pro is a hugh chunk in the case. the kraken is nice but way too much for me to spend.

There are only two reasons I can see for an AIO over a large high-end air cooler...

1. There isn't the available space for a large cooler
2. You're buying for cosmetic reasons

If you aren't affected by 1. and don't care too much about 2. you're just spending money for the sake of it.

wow you are spot on with 2 as for 1 i have a be quiet case and the cooler fits :)

+1 on Arctic freezer 2

+1 on Arctic freezer 2! I literally just swapped out my dark rock pro 4 for the artic 360mm version for basically the same reason as you. The dark rock is a big old unit and takes up so much space and granted it does a good job but it makes everything look a bit cluttered. I changed the fans on the Arctic for some be quiet silent wings 3’s. Under load 3700x doesn’t go above 52c. Would definitely recommend the artic for great cooling performance at a good price... if you can find one in stock somewhere

Cheers buddy am still in 2 minds but leaning more towards the aio

I've just went with the EK Elite 360 D-RGB, one of the easiest and most straight forward AIO's I've fitted. More pricey than most but it does come with 6 fans and a fan hub.

Used the 6 fans that came with it as intake and used 3 fans I already had on the radiator.

Arctic Freezer II 360 or 280, if possible.
Very quiet. For your CPU, will be very efficient, even at low speed.
True the Dark Rock Pro 4, fantastic, but as you mentioned, bulk. RAM clearance not much of an issue, as yo van mount the outer fan offset.
Expect the Arctic to be very quiet, unless running at full speed, when the fans would be audible, but I don't see a scenario where you need to run them at full speed. At £100-£110, hard to find any AIO as good, only negative, for some, the lack of RGB.

My only gripe with the arctic freezer II is the overall thickness of it and the fans is 63mm and i wanted to do a top mount, the pure loop 360 on the other hand is a full 11mm slimmer, plus the ac II's are not in stock

The thicker rad is one of the reasons they performed better, if not best, than most.
OCUK, sadly, haven't offered some stock for them for a while, sadly, forcing me to order from somewhere else (wbefore going for a full custom because of the annoying GPU fan) and missing the Haribo.
