Looking for the coolest and the quietest!

Hey everyone,

I eventually built the new system below and have got some good temps on air, however, I want to be able to connect all of the fans on my Antec 900 to my fan controller - 3 x 2Pin connetions left, and am looking to replace the large 20cm fan in the top of the case, the rear exhaust fan and one of the front fans for the hard drive bay with controllable fans.

I'm especially big on wanting these to be silent though, and am looking for the quietest fans I can get to replace those currently in the case... however, if I want to ramp them up for maximum cooling while underload, i'm looking for something pretty powerful when on the highest speed...

In my quest for silence, i'm also trying to reduce the reading and writing noise my raptor and spinpoint make, as I HATE this noise - any idea on how to eliminate it?

Thanks guys , as always I know i'll get some expert help!

Cheers,

flatman

1. Ditch the Antec 900 - long term it'll be more cost effective than messing about with the fans.
2. Get a proper quiet case like a Lian Li S80B and some passive water cooling like a Zalman Reserator, Innovatek Passiv Radiator or Cape Cora 6 and hook up as much as possible to it.

With the heat being removed outside the case, and the quiet case itself, you shouldn't be able to hear anything. I have a passive water cooled Lian Li PC-A05 and you genuinely cannot hear it at all.

a water cooling isn't on the cards at the moment unfortunately, due to the pc being uprooted so frequently and moved, and I can't be doing with draining it out every fortnight etc.

Ideally am looking for an air solution with hard drive solution that would help me in the short (ish) term.

Cheers though!

I move my reserator cooled rig twice a week. It has quick-releases for the external radiator which I transport full of liquid, stood up in the boot (fixed in place with strong bungees) and the PC just sits in the boot next to it. I honestly don't know why people think these things leak. The entire car is cooled and heated by water and that doesn't leak, so it never entered my head that my PC would. Besides, I'm using the non-conductive Ice Water stuff, so even if it does leak, you just need to leave it to evaporate and it works as before.

+1 for the passive and movable non-leak reserator. (but not the original blue one)

And the bungy mod only gets you half way to a slient raptor - GUP Japan - gets you to the finish line

thats said some 7v mod yate loons will be a cheaper option ;) and very quiet too.

It all depends on if slient or very quiet is your goal - if you live in an urban area then very quiet is below ambient so it's more that good enough.

I'm keen to build a water rig which is self contained in the Antec900, however I am a complete water cooling noob, and would want a completely passive system.

Is anyone able to suggest some completely passive systems that would do the trick?

Thanks,

The new coolermaster cases can fit a 120.3 rad in the top as standard with fittings and everything.

i have an internally watercooled system in an Akasa Mirage 62, and move my PC all the time.

Alternatively, look up panaflo and nexus fans, both do silent, with the panaflos being the slightly better.

someone will say Akasa amber fans, but they are not *** sub 18db they promise and are actually very audible.

are you overclocking?
