hi, i'm looking for upgrade advice (ram & gpu, so thought i'd put the thread here instead of starting 2 separate threads) for my old pc (looking to play the division 2 next month)

current setup (old pc but still runs fine :))

i7 920 @2.67ghz (modest overclock)
6gb ram (think it's GSkill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ; ddr3 memory - 3x2gb sticks)
Asus p6t motherboard (not p6t se)
r9-280 gpu
ssd

the above setup worked fine for the division 1.

Would be grateful for the following upgrade advice:

1 - compatible ram (8gb will probably do me for now, since i'm not sure how much longer before i upgrade the pc).

2 - gpu (gaming at probably up to 1080 for now) Looking at some other threads: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powe...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-18l-pc.html has been recommended, which, with the free games, would be ideal.

Anyway, advice much appreciated - thanks very much in advance ;)

ps, i've also noticed people mention a cpu upgrade (x5650): https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-gigabyte-ex58-ud5-setup-150-to-200.18844913/ so i'm aware of that too.

If your gaming at 1080p , you'd fined an i5 9600k clocked to 5ghz will beat 920/x5650 no matter what .

Good jump in performance from .1st gen to 3rd gen I cores .

More powerful the GPU, the more the CPU had to work specially at 1080p as GPU is executing tasks before the CPU can ( were CPU clock speed, core count and IPC come into play )

Even ryzen 2600x is a cracking chip for its price !
