Well my current spec is not handling BFBC2 very well, Its playable but not as good as I would like, 60 fps max 30 min and hi activity areas its nearer the min than max

looking for CPU/motherboard/ram upgrade

I have [email protected]/ Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5/4x1gb OCZ platinuim 800 at the moment

componets i would like to keep are titan cooler if possible, BFG gtx285 oc and also have a thermaltake toughpower 700w PSU

looking to spend around £400/£450 had thisystem for awhile so not up on the new i series cpus or AMD stuff I have no brand loyalty best bang for bucks me

Well you could grab a quad core like the q6600 and your good to go...no need to splash out on a i5 or Phenom system yet.
I however would say get a 5850/5870 and watch your fps go up as there great cards and i dont think its your cpu holding you back even though the GTX285 isnt a bad card the Ati 5000 cards are great.
 
Yep, the Q6600 is a great overclocker if you get the G0 version and it should keep you going for a while so you don't need to do a full mobo/cpu/ram upgrade.
 
The Q6600 is a lovely price of kit! If you do one thing, make sure its that, plus perhaps a descent third party cooler if you want to OC. The Corsair H50 has some rave reviews, even if it is a bit pricey.
 
Rembrant, where do you live? i have a Q6600 that i might be selling
it was in use in my laptop (NP9262 - uses DESKTOP CPU :) )
but the hinge recently broke so i may be willing to let it go, if interested let me know :)

the Q6600 hasnt been overclocked and has been used in system with full fans going when ever in use.
i got it last year for around £140, looking for £80 i live in Hampshire let me know if interested

gotta part out my laptop now as the freaking hinge broke
so i have have 3gb (1gb and 2gb) Ram as well as 2 x 320gb 2.5 drives and 1 x 120gb 2.5inch drive as well as a 8800m GTX to sell.
the laptop has a TV tuner so i might see if i can get that out as well as the wireless adapter
